What is Revolved Easy Pose?

Revolved easy pose, or parivrtta sukhasana in Sanskrit, is a variation on the beginner's easy pose. With crossed legs, the practitioner places one hand on the opposite knee and twists to the side. The pose is a gentle way to warm up the spine.

Instructions

  • Sit in easy pose with the legs crossed.
  • Place the left fingertips on the floor outside of the left buttocks and lengthen the spine.
  • Place the right hand on the left knee.
  • Exhale and twist to the left.
  • Breathe while holding the pose.
  • Change sides.

Cautions

  • Use caution in this pose if there is back or neck injury.
