Who are your favorite spiritual mentors?

Q:

Who are your favorite spiritual mentors?

A:

These days, as humanity continues to evolve, more and more spiritual leaders are coming to the forefront. We’re living in an exciting time, where the internet allows us to learn from wisdom holders and mentors across the globe. We no longer have to travel to India or Tibet to learn about yoga and Buddhism. Nor, do we need to take long and arduous pilgrimages to explore our faith and devotion. We can simply get online and learn from the best gurus the world has to offer. Below are some of my favorite spiritual mentors out there.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

We all know the beloved father of Tibetan Buddhism. He’s the Dalai Lama, and he’s made waves as a spiritual teacher and mentor to his beloved followers. Read the Dalai Lama’s books or visit his website for video and audio teachings.

Deepak Chopra

For decades Deepak Chopra has been teaching yogic tools and sharing insights from his home outside of San Diego, California. Many of us are familiar with Deepak because of the numerous bestsellers he's written. Deeply grounded in his yogic roots, Deepak teaches online and at the Chopra Center. (Read more about Deepak in 5 Things You Learn Hanging Out With Deepak Chopra.)

Davidji

As a student of Deepak Chopra and David Simon (Deepak’s late business and spiritual partner) Davidji has his roots in yogic wisdom. Davidji has a wonderful online community and many of his teachings are free. He offers guided meditations on Spotify and various life tools (from a yogic perspective) through vlogs and blogs. Check out one of his books to get a feel for what he’s all about, or visit his website here.

Pema Chodron

Pema Chodron is a Buddhist nun in the Tibetan tradition. She is the director of the Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia, Canada but teaches and lectures worldwide. Her message is highly practical for the modern day spiritual students. To get a taste of Pema, read her articles on Lion’s Roar or pick up one of her bestselling books. When Things Fall Apart is one of her best. (Read about What Makes a True Guru.)
