Eka pada jathara parivartanasana is an asana great for spinal alignment, stretching hip flexors and hamstrings, and clearing digestive pathways. From Sanskrit, eka means “one," pada means "leg," jathara means "inner fire" or "abdomen," parivarta means "twist" or "turning," and asana means "pose."

To practice eka pada jathara parivartanasana, begin lying flat on the back. Bend the knees of one leg and bring it close to the chest with the other leg remaining straight. Let the lifted leg fall over to the opposite side of the body with an abdominal twist, and with the leg perpendicular to the other side of the body. Repeat on the opposite side. A variation of this pose is a choice between keeping the leg bent or straightening it out, which increases the intensity of the twist.

The English translation is one-legged belly twist.
