Definition - What does Siddha Yoga mean?

Siddha yoga is a spiritual yoga tradition that was founded by Muktananda and is now led by Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. This type of yoga seeks to perfect its practitioner and bring them closer to being a siddha, or enlightened master.

One of the main elements of the Siddha yoga path is shaktipat-diksha. This is a process through which a guru awakens a student’s inner power in order to help them reach a higher level of self-knowledge and attain Self-realization.

Traditionally, the shaktipat initiation was only possible for students who spent a long time searching for spirituality. However, the Shaktipat Intensives offered by Siddha yoga make it possible for new students to receive this awakening as well.
